Help women who are reclaiming their lives from drug & alcohol addiction.
My name is Charlie G. and I am the editor of It's all in the JOURNEY recovery magazine (www.itsallinthejourney.com). I am also the owner of Joy's House (www.joyshouse.info); a new sober house for women I just opened in my daughter's memory (That's Joy sitting in the 'O' of JOURNEY on every magazine cover. She is the inspiration behind JOURNEY magazine, and now Joy's House).
I lost Joy in 1985 when she was only 3 years old, after she accidently strangled in the footrest of her Grandfather's recliner chair. When I lost my daughter, the pain and loss was immeasurable. I didn’t want to feel it, and drugs and alcohol helped.
For a while.
But as the disease progressed, and my intake grew, the pain returned. Along with a loss of self-respect, alienation from my family, financial difficulties, and a constant dread that I would run out of, or not be able to get, my drug or drink of choice; There was an emptiness inside of me that couldn’t be filled no matter how much drugs or alcohol I put into myself. Until I finally gave up, got a sponsor and worked the steps. What I found?
Recovery is possible.
Do you know what true freedom is?
True freedom is waking up in the morning without panicking that I have to get my drug or drink to make it through the day.
That I am enjoying my life, Not just surviving it.
We in recovery have found that freedom, and it is incredible!
Joy’s House is here to help women make that transition from early recovery to living a successful life in recovery.

To help us, Grammy winning artist Jim Warren, is donating one of his original paintings, 'Survivor', valued at $25,000 - to help support Joy's House!
Jim Warren won a Grammy award for the remarkable cover he created for Bob Segar's 'Against the Wind' album, has been sober over two decades and allows It's all in the JOURNEY magazine to use his incredible artwork for it's covers. When he heard of Joy's House, he immediately wanted to help. Jim agreed to donate the original painting of 'Survivor' to a raffle which would support our efforts.
How cool is that?!
Joy's House, the newest sober house for women in Miami, is dedicated to bridging the gap for those who are in early recovery from drug and alcohol addiction to independent living. We are based on the 12 Step principle, and an atmosphere of mutual support and accountability allow an opportunity for the healing process to begin.
